Macau’s casino industry, from 2020 through 2022, produced a combined $23 billion in gaming revenue.

The market almost matched that three-year total in 2023.

Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau said Monday that resorts produced $2.3 billion in casino revenue during December, giving the region a 12-month total of $22.8 billion. MGM Resorts International, Las Vegas Sands and Wynn Resorts operate casinos in Macau.

2023 was Macau’s best gaming revenue year since 2019, when casinos collected $36.6 billion But the region still lags pre-pandemic results. Macau’s single-year record was $45 billion in 2013.

Stifel Financial gaming analyst Steve Wieczynski wrote in a research note his forecast for 35 percent revenue growth in 2024 is more bullish than most analysts.

“While we remain ahead of consensus, we believe the current consensus forecast remains overly conservative,” he wrote.
